Our group is interested in understanding the structural intent and outcomeof the Nanotech building. After watching the building be contructed in2011 we’ve all been allured by its awe-inspiring cantilever, which hascompletely changed the experiential quality along that portion of WalnutStreet. This case study assignment seemed the perfect opportunity tonot only analyze the building as a team of architecture students butalso to look at it within the context of current technologies and buildingsystems.

Understanding these relationships will also provide us a clearcross-section of insight from Weiss/Manfredi within the context of theirwork. We are particularly excited for the modeling component of this projectto better understand how the construction sequence played out in thestructural composition. It is our understanding that this process changedthroughout the drawing sets and on site during the constructionprocess so examining a set of detail components will enable us to betterunderstand how Weiss/Manfradi navigated this process.
