JAKUPSIL

Jakupsil 작업실 is a Korean word for studio, atelier, or laboratory where various types of design agencies are tested. This method seeks particular responses to design challenges through iterative studies and discussion in the design process. Our mission is to rethink the multifaceted architecture industry by expanding the scope of services to various design fields and areas of expertise. Our business model is dedicated to providing bespoke solutions to each project. Jakupsil members are licensed architecture and real estate professionals, as well as art consultants based in New York and Seoul, Korea.

Brett Lee AIA NCARB LEED AP

Brett is a licensed architect in New York with over a decade of experience in hospitality, residential, corporate interior, sports, and institutional projects. He earned his Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania, receiving the AIA Henry Adams 1st Prize Medal and the Spayd Brook Gold Medal as the top-ranking graduate in both design and theory. Brett has exhibited his work at international venues, including the Venice Biennale in 2016 and 2018, as well as the Seoul Architecture Biennale in 2017 and 2019. He continues to actively engage in both architectural practice and discourse. He has practiced architecture across the globe - UN Studio in the Netherlands, Coop Himmelb(l)au in Austria, Perkins Eastman and ARO in New York, CoA in California, IK Studio in Philadelphia and Boston, and many other offices in Asia and North America.

His academic journey includes an Hon. BA in Art History and Studio Art with distinction from the University of Toronto. Upon graduation, he briefly pursued a career in art before transitioning to architecture. He served as a gallery manager at Gallery JJ in Seoul, Korea. Brett occupies an intriguing position at the intersection of art and architecture, which informs his creative approaches to teaching and practicing both disciplines.
