Artica Delancey

Artica Delancey is an artist whose work navigates the space between realism and abstraction — not fully figurative, not fully landscape — shaped by scientific precision and raw urban energy. Influenced by the organic complexity of cell cross-sections and the structured chaos of city life, she merges scientific observation with expressive mark-making. Drawing from the micro world of cells and the macro sprawl of the city, Artica creates a language where realism and abstraction collide.

Inspired by 90s videogame imagery, Nam June Paik’s Electronic Superhighway, and the raw energy of downtown culture, she sculpts glass, light, and electricity into forms that feel alive. Organic shapes confined within architectural lines reflect the tension between natural forms and rigid urban structures. Each piece relates to the next through literal and conceptual throughlines, evoking the interconnectedness of thought, experience, and environment. Starting from either rigid frameworks or flowing forms, she explores how beginnings shape outcomes, emphasizing the dynamic between structure and spontaneity. Her work meditates on containment and expansion — mind and matter, thought and form — with materials energized by light and the invisible current of electricity, which moves through the work not just as illumination, but as thought itself: shifting, resisting, alive within the structures built to hold it.
